We carry out proactive investigations identifying those selling, importing and manufacturing our clients’ goods; we are not just a reactive organisation. We work collectively for a number of clients in order to keep costs to a minimum by jointly taking actions against the counterfeiters and their traders aiming to put them out of business by seizing all their stock and assisting with prosecutions.
During 2010 we assisted in the take down of approximately 2400 + UK domain bogus web sites, on top of this we have also closed down another 600 TLD Web sites / domains, 2010 was again a very busy year for us, we have seized approximately £15,000,000 million worth of counterfeit clothing and merchandise jointly on behalf of our clients nationwide, we have continued to cultivate a number of good quality informants at the heart of these criminal activities whose accurate information has assisted us and the authorities to bring about these results, we have in actual fact been commended by the authorities on a number of occasions for this accurate intelligence. We have carried out a number of pro-active operations, involving observations and surveillance and as a result of which we raided 30 x retail outlets; 24 x wholesalers / internet warehouses; 54 x markets; 7 x Home address searches; conducted 34 x authentication examinations on behalf of UK, and European Customs authorities, 15 x authentication examinations on behalf of UK Police Forces and 135 x authentication examinations on behalf of various trading standards authorities all over UK.
We have conducted covert investigations throughout the world and provided the judicial authorities with our evidence thus making their task easier in taking legal action against these perpetrators. Our methods in evidence gathering have been highly commended by the courts in Switzerland and we have an excellent working relationship with the authorities in China, South Korea, Japan, Turkey and European countries.
In the United Kingdom, we have developed a close relationship with the Trading Standards Service and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. We also act as a point of contact for these authorities should they seize counterfeits of our client’s merchandise, making authentication examinations and providing witness statements. Our comprehensive reports at the conclusion of such investigations have also assisted specialist patent lawyers in taking other legal actions, gaining compensation and restitution for our clients.
