We monitor online marketplaces and independent websites worldwide for counterfeits and other IP (intellectual property) infringements and our experience ensures that, when these are detected, they are reported and quickly removed. Constant vigilance is necessary as it is commonplace for infringers to jump from one platform to another to try to avoid detection.

In most cases, infringing material is removed by the websites themselves following the submission of our reports but, when they do not comply with our requests, the hosting providers are identified and the reports forwarded to them for action. Each major platform has its own individual procedure for reporting infringements with an increasing number of them requiring pre-registration of each brand’s IP before reports can be submitted. The time taken for removal of infringements is largely dependent on the platform and can vary from a matter of minutes to a few days or more but generally it is around a working day. However, for independent websites that do not respond to our reports, the assistance of hosting providers is required and the whole process can then take longer. By way of example, for one of our clients we are taking down an average of more than eight hundred items infringing their IP every month. Historically, the worst offending platforms for them are Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Fruugo, Shopee, Tokopedia and Alibaba but more recently infringements have grown on Temu and the scam clothing and other websites that are here today and gone tomorrow.
