Many businesses have a security survey / review carried out and spend small fortune on Manned Guarding, CCTV, Alarms and Access Control systems, but they do not actually test these systems to see if they are really working.
What is a penetration test.
A physical penetration test, or "physical pen test," simulates a real-world attack on an organisation's security measures, like buildings, data centres, or server rooms, to identify vulnerabilities and assess the effectiveness of security protocols. Expose weaknesses in physical security controls to strengthen a business's security posture.
The goal.
Physical penetration testing is to uncover vulnerabilities in physical security controls and advise you on how to fix them, before malicious third parties exploit them.
Surelock carry out numerous security surveys on business premises. The site perimeter, integrity of buildings and vulnerability of individual rooms are examined in detail together with existing physical/electronic measures and procedures already in place to reduce crime.
Following the survey how often do you get your security measures tested, don’t wait for the inevitable to happen!
Physical penetration tests are an important way for businesses to identify any weaknesses in the security of their premises (e.g., warehouses and offices) that could be exploited by criminals, to steal intelligence or even instal covert cameras and listening devices.
The methology.
We have specialist operatives drawn from the military well versed in ‘Red Teaming’, which focuses on sending a team to gain entry to restricted areas. This is done to test and optimise physical security such as fences, cameras, alarms, locks, and employee behaviour. Physical red teaming will often involve a reconnaissance phase where information is gathered and weaknesses in security are identified, and then that information will be used to conduct an operation to gain entry to the premises, tailgating or the use of unofficial security badges.
During the operation, our experts will covertly try to bypass any security guards, cameras, locks, fences, or other security measures to gain entry and demonstrate how they could potentially reach restricted areas undetected. As with all our surveillance operations the whole penetration test will be covertly recorded for training purposes and a detailed report of our findings will be provided.
The result.
It is not always bad news, sometimes as a result of our operation, we praise the security in place, but often there are problems which can be addressed as a result of our findings, on the other hand our operatives have managed to gain entry to the building unchallenged and often get into the secure area, where damage can be caused.
